Could this be the Downfall of Snapchat?

As any active Snapchat user would be aware, earlier this month, the rolled out an update.. and man, oh man, was it met with fire! Check out these responses:

Snapchat Update

To give you a run down on what occurred in the update, basically they moved stories to where snaps sent by friends come in? Weird right. Now you see both direct snaps and stories in the one place. So stories now, rather than being in order as it used to (via time uploaded or alphabetically) and on its own page, Snapchat appear to have taken a leaf out of Instagram’s book and sorted them by what you are most likely to watch and enjoy.

Personally, I have always been a huge fan of Snapchat for business. I think it is highly underrated, and potentially the most underutilised social media channel. Snapchat has the potential to reach a large audience within seconds, prompty people to head to your website, build personal relationships, and provide an insight into your business – and it is free and very easy to grow from your other platforms. Think about it, if you are able to get your loyal fans as friends on Snapchat, rather than spending thousands using Facebook advertising to reach them again and try get a few conversions for $2-50 a pop, send them a snapchat with a link to where you want them to go 9 times out of 10 they will open it, head to the link, and even respond.

However, with the backlash from users after the update – will it push them off the platform, or will they simply ‘get over it’, like they did when Instagram changed their feed?
